Pluto, also called Pluto the Pup, is a cartoon character created in 1930 at Walt Disney Productions. He is a yellow-orange color, medium-sized, short-haired dog with black ears. ... Officially a mixed-breed dog, he made his debut as a (nameless) bloodhound in the Mickey Mouse cartoon The Chain Gang where he was on the trail of escaped prisoner Mickey Mouse. After that, his name was to changed to Rover and he became Minnie Mouse's dog. Later on he became Mickey Mouse's dog (and best pal) and his name was changed to Pluto in honor of the discovery of the new "ninth planet" in our solar system.
